Ok I'm in the midst of packing like mad for tomorrows camp and unpacking all my hk stuff, so just a quick rundown of the trip;
FOOD&SHOPPING Hongkong is not a shopping paradise, unless you like really really expensive branded stuff or you like those trashy/kiddy shirts with wierd slogans that dont make much sense or with lots of cartoon characters coloured wrongly on them. HOWEVER still managed to unearth a few good things I will wear soon enough. And the shops there close damn early, and open really late, so dont bother getting up early unless youre going to eat. The time you can shop goes from around eleven to 8:30 pm, so good luck.Food there was excellent, even the fast food somehow tasted better.Went to dan Ryans one night, and the steak was outstanding. Samantha was hankering for their potatoe skins, which came slathered with decent amounts of sour cream and melted cheese. Really good. And one night when our family split up for dinner, one half going elsewhere, and the other going shopping, the bill for 5 people eating at a noodle place cam up to HK$190, which is about S$30. Really decent. And YES the roast duck/goose/whatever poultry there is damn good. Just dont order suckling pig, its like trying to eat crispy FAT :P Bleh.
RELATIVES It was really really good to see my 3 cousins again. Sean (11) is taller and fatter, but not even up to my chin. He was rather well behaved this time around, and was actually rather endearing in certain aspects, such as asking if I would go everywhere with him (awwwwwww). Sam is, surprisingly, shorter than me. By alot. Like, below my chin short. So you can imagine it was rather a shock for me to see her, as my last memories of her involve me being only as tall as her shoulder. But then again, that was 7 years ago. And we got alot like a house on fire this time, versus when we were kids we were constantly bickering. Aaron is not much taller, and he got a crew cut (OMG) which doesnt realy suit him I guess. Hope it grows out soon. His hard abs have also kind of melted away, cause he injured his ankle a few months back and so, no exercise. Poor guy :P. But we got along real good this time, so YEAH I love my coussies. SO different from when we were kids and used to hate each other. But then, we grew out of it I suppose. I guess we all grew up.
HOTEL&THE OUTSIDE WORLD Hotel was ok, not big not small, beds were comfy, but the room somehow always seemed to remain super cold no matter how I tweaked the thermostat. And the city is damn polluted. Foggy everyday, and the buildings are black with soot. EW.
COMMUNITY The people there are loud, and rather rude. Here, if you bump into the wrong person you could start a fight, but there, its the normal way of life. Ohwell. And its seriuolsy overpopulated. On the best of days, its like taka during the GSS.Its always peak hour in HK.
BLAHBLAH&BLAH All in all, the trip was good. Despite the late nights, I feel strangley refreshed, and ready to face church camp. The only things I need to worry about now are whether I'm gonna get there on time, If people are gonna get injured during the games again, and whether our dear friend sher is going or not.
Toodles!
